Promoting and supporting our vital civic institution since 1950

Dear Friends,

In this unpredictable time, there are many people and worthy organizations needing help, and your library is among them. Friends of the Dallas Public Library's responsibility, since 1950, is to take action to ensure that our library continues to fulfill its crucial civic role.

It will be an incredibly long road ahead for everyone. For your library, the city budget will be stretched even thinner than usual due to declining sales and hotel occupancy taxes.

Tough news in these tough times. While our libraries remain closed for the time being, on May 13th nearly half the library staff was furloughed. We are exploring ways to help our wonderful librarians endure this difficult period, and protect our libraries as the city faces more budgetary woes down the road.

Thank you for your many years of support. Stay safe and healthy. Please stay tuned, stick with us and I look forward to seeing you all very soon at Dallas Public Library,
