This annual fundraiser will resume after being delayed by COVID for the past two years and our faithful supporters are excited to celebrate and LOVE LOCAL. Our 2022 event will feature a panel of local authors including Donna Wilhelm, Erin Yun, Jim Schutze and Harry Hunsicker.
THE WHO AND WHY: We expect approximately 300 guests including faithful Friends of the Dallas Public Library members, philanthropists, civic leaders, elected officials, and more to gather to laud our amazing library staff for the exceptional work from the past two years. Their constant innovation during the pandemic to serve our community impacted millions in person and online visitors to our libraries. 30 branches went above and beyond managing more than 100,000 curbside appointments while pivoting all programs online including adult education, the annual summer reading program, storytimes for our youngest readers, and more.
This event has been held for more than 30 years, raises essential funds for our organization which, as a member-based 501c3 organization since 1950, has a mission to build awareness, appreciation, and support for our world-class library system. Over the past 70 years, the Friends have funded more than $50 million for library renovations, acquisitions, essential programs and bookmobiles as well as donating millions of volunteer hours. Annually, the Friends provide more than $400,000 in direct support to Dallas Public Library and your participation in this LOVE LOCAL authors panel would be incredibly impactful.
