Prop D on May 4th supports vital library upgrades and investments.
We are thrilled to share some exciting news. Dallas voters have approved Prio D which will provide $43.5M in Proposition D for Library Facilities. This funding is a significant step forward in enhancing our library system and ensuring it remains a vital resource for all residents of Dallas.
The approved funds will be utilized to replace the North Oak Cliff and Park Forest branches, renovate the Preston Royal branch, and ensure ADA compliance at 8 locations across the City.
Those locations are - Kleberg-Rylie, Lakewood, Martin Luther King, Jr., Mountain Creek, Oak Lawn, Renner Frankford, Skillman Southwestern and Skyline.
These improvements will not only make our libraries safer and more accessible but also uphold the commitment made in Dallas Public Library's 2000 Master Plan.
Since 1950, Friends members, staff, and volunteers have worked tirelessly with elected officials and city staff to ensure that the Dallas Public Library has what it needs to meet the needs of our community.
These efforts have resulted in millions of dollars in investment across our 30 library branches.
The Friends remains committed to continuing our own effort to surround the library staff and Dallas residents with the services and resources they need through our own private fundraising efforts, and we seek to be a good partner to the library and to the City of Dallas.
