Want to know where City Council candidates stand on the Dallas Public Library?

Saturday’s City Council elections held few surprises, with all incumbents winning re-election by comfortable margins.

Of the four open-seat races, two were decided outright:

  • In District 4, Dallas ISD Trustee Maxie Johnson won decisively with more than 70% of the vote, succeeding term-limited Council Member Carolyn King Arnold.
  • In District 6, Laura Cadena, former chief of staff to outgoing Council Member Omar Narvaez, secured just over 50% of the vote to win the seat.

Two districts are headed to a runoff on June 7:

  • In District 8, Lorie Blair, a former Dallas Planning Commissioner appointed by Tennell Atkins, will face Erik Wilson, who previously served on the Council from 2015 to 2017.
  • In District 11, Bill Roth, a commercial real estate executive, will compete against Jeff Kitner, a North Dallas Chamber executive and former Friends of the Dallas Public Library board member, to replace Jaynie Schultz, who did not seek re-election.
